“While I initially looked to 3D Systems' On Demand Manufacturing Service because of its ability to provide instant quotes and be a single source for multiple manufacturing processes, what really makes it easier for me is my the team keeps me aware of important steps in the process and is always just a phone call or email away,” said Heinz Zollinger of Magellan Technology.

Looking to leverage its proprietary RFID Stack Tag technology, Australian-based Magellan Technology needed a manufacturer for its new ‘smart’ document tray reader concept, the MDocR-2505. Magellan turned to 3D Systems' On Demand Manufacturing Service ensuring prototyping to production would be done with a single source.

Utilizing the latest Plastic Jet Printing machines, On Demand Manufacturing provided Magellan Tech with durable prototypes of the MDocR-2505 in a variety of colors for fit and function testing. All parts were shipped via FedEx International Priority to ensure safe shipping conditions and earliest arrival.

As the design was finalized through multiple iterations, 3D Systems built production-quality display models through the QuickPlastic™ Cast Urethane/RTV mold process to allow Magellan to demonstrate the electronic document management solution at International tradeshows.
