ROCK HILL, South Carolina, September 26, 2018 3D Systems (NYSE: DDD), the originator of 3D printing, has been selected as a 2018 recipient of the Cellerant Best of Class Technology Award for its NextDentTM 5100. This dental-specific 3D printer - powered by 3D Systems’ Figure 4™ technology - has been uniquely designed for use with the industry-leading NextDent brand of biocompatible materials, and enables dental labs and clinics to address a greater number of dental indications at speeds up to 4x faster than other available solutions.  This one of a kind combination further reduces material waste and capital equipment expenditure, as well as reliance upon milling centers.

The NextDent 5100 is compatible with industry-leading intra-oral scanning and dental software solutions, delivering more precise results than conventional manual production techniques. The Best of Class Technology Awards were launched in 2009 as a new concept to provide an unbiased, non-profit assessment of available technologies in the dental space. The selection process is rigorous, unbiased, nonprofit, and transparent. The award recipients are selected by a panel of the most prominent technology leaders in dentistry: Paul Feuerstein, DMD; John Flucke, DDS; Marty Jablow, DMD; Pam Maragliano-Muniz, DMD; Chris Salierno, DDS; and Lou Shuman, DMD.
